El Festival Centro 2026, bajo el lema «Los sonidos de la diferencia», anunció a 17 de los 47 artistas que participarán en el evento. La Fundación Gilberto Alzate Avendaño (FUGA) dio el anuncio en el marco del Bogotá Music Market (BOmm). El cartel incluye a leyendas como Lucía Pulido y Los Latin Brothers, y un homenaje al maestro de la percusión afrocolombiana, Nicoyembe. El festival, que celebra su 17.ª edición, es un evento cultural muy esperado en Bogotá, ya que marca el inicio de la agenda musical de la ciudad.
La directora de la FUGA, Blanca Andrea Sánchez, destacó la importancia del festival como un motor cultural para la ciudad. El evento es un espacio que visibiliza a cientos de artistas y rinde homenaje a Nicoyembe, quien representa la fuerza de las raíces musicales de Colombia. Nicoyembe, originario de Quibdó, Chocó, ha llevado la música afrocolombiana a escenarios nacionales e internacionales con su propuesta de fusionar la chirimía, la marimba de chonta y el saxofón con ritmos del Pacífico, el Caribe y las raíces africanas.
Junto a los artistas principales, el festival anunció a 14 ganadores de la convocatoria ‘El Escenario es el Centro’, que es parte de las Becas LEP FUGA 2025. Esta iniciativa apoya a artistas y colectivos de diferentes disciplinas y permite nutrir la franja independiente del festival con propuestas emergentes y diversas. Entre los artistas que salieron de esta convocatoria se encuentran Afaz Natural, un rapero de Cali; Diana Burco, una cantautora y acordeonera con dos nominaciones al Grammy Latino; y La BOA, un colectivo de afrobeat que mezcla ritmos del Caribe y el Pacífico colombiano.
El Festival Centro se ha consolidado como un laboratorio para artistas y público. Desde su primera edición en 2010, ha reunido a más de 572 artistas y 140 mil asistentes. El festival se ha expandido a escenarios emblemáticos de la ciudad como el Teatro Colón y la Media Torta. El festival tiene tres franjas: la académica, la familiar y la musical, que une géneros y públicos que rara vez coinciden en un mismo cartel.
El festival es un espacio de encuentro y celebración de la diversidad cultural de Bogotá. Con una trayectoria de 17 años, ha logrado unificar a la ciudad en torno a la música y la cultura.
