Hasta el momento hay 20 personas muertas y 500 heridos pero se espera que con el pasar de las horas las cifras aumenten.
En las provincias de Balkh y Samangan «alrededor de 320 compatriotas fueron heridos y más de 20 murieron», indicó Sharafat Zaman, portavoz del Ministerio de Salud afgano.

Las deficientes redes de comunicación y falta de infraestructura suelen complicar las respuestas de emergencia en zonas montañosas.
En Mazar-e-Sharif, numerosos habitantes salieron de sus viviendas por temor a posibles réplicas.
