Colombia postula ante la UNESCO la obra del maestro Rogelio Salmona
El Ministerio de las Culturas, el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y la Fundación Rogelio Salmona, presentaron oficialmente ante la UNESCO la candidatura de cuatro obras icónicas del arquitecto colombiano Rogelio Salmona para ser reconocidas como Patrimonio Mundial de la Humanidad.
El expediente, titulado «La obra de Rogelio Salmona: Contrapunto desde la arquitectura del Movimiento Moderno», fue remitido a la Secretaría del Comité de Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO e incluye cuatro edificaciones emblemáticas que transformaron el paisaje urbano colombiano.
Entre las que está Residencias El Parque, Archivo General de la Nación, Edificio de Posgrados de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia y el Parque Biblioteca Virgilio Barco.
Estas obras representan una visión única de la arquitectura latinoamericana, destacándose por el uso del ladrillo y por crear una relación armoniosa entre los edificios, las personas y el entorno geográfico.

La obra de Salmona va más allá de lo estético. Sus construcciones reflejan una profunda confianza en la ciudadanía y defienden valores fundamentales como la democracia y el derecho al espacio público.
En un mundo donde cada vez se levantan más barreras entre lo público y lo privado, la arquitectura de Salmona invita al encuentro, a la inclusión y al uso colectivo de los espacios.
En marzo de este año se definirá si la propuesta colombiana queda incluida entre las 35 candidaturas que serán valoradas durante el 2026.
En caso de ser aprobada, la candidatura será evaluada técnicamente por el Consejo Internacional de Monumentos y Sitios (ICOMOS), organismo asesor de la UNESCO en materia de Patrimonio Cultural y la decisión final se tomará en la 49° sesión del Comité de Patrimonio mundial, programada para el 2027.
Esta postulación es el resultado de un esfuerzo colaborativo que comenzó en 2021, cuando la Fundación Rogelio Salmona, el Ministerio de las Culturas y la Universidad Nacional de Colombia iniciaron la formulación del expediente.
Durante estos años, expertos nacionales e internacionales en patrimonio cultural han trabajado en documentar y justificar el Valor Universal Excepcional de estas obras.
