La polémica surgió tras una entrevista en la que Oviedo afirmó que el centro político no debía distanciarse del uribismo por “las dudas de los falsos positivos”. Sus palabras provocaron rechazo inmediato entre familiares de víctimas de ejecuciones extrajudiciales ocurridas en Colombia durante la década de 2000.
Como respuesta, la organización publicó un mensaje en redes sociales dirigido al político en el que expresó: “Nuestros hijos no son una duda, la certeza de sus vidas no se relativiza”, recordando que muchos jóvenes fueron asesinados y presentados falsamente como guerrilleros muertos en combate.
El colectivo también invitó a Oviedo a conocer directamente los testimonios de las familias afectadas y visitar lugares como Soacha, donde se originaron varios de los casos más conocidos. Según las madres, cuestionar estos crímenes afecta la memoria histórica y el reconocimiento de las víctimas.
La controversia también fue comentada por figuras políticas como Roy Barreras, quien criticó las declaraciones del candidato y recordó que la Jurisdicción Especial para la Paz ha documentado 6.402 víctimas de ejecuciones extrajudiciales en el país.
El caso volvió a poner en el centro del debate público la memoria de estos crímenes y la discusión política sobre cómo deben abordarse en el contexto electoral y de reconciliación en Colombia.
