La Registraduría Nacional del Estado Civil y la Unión Europea se unieron para impulsar una estrategia nacional de pedagogía y participación juvenil. El objetivo es claro: que el próximo 19 de octubre los jóvenes acudan masivamente a las urnas para elegir a sus representantes en los Consejos de Juventud.
Campaña que recorre todo el país
El registrador nacional, Hernán Penagos, explicó que la iniciativa incluye jornadas en colegios y universidades para que los jóvenes comprendan la importancia de ejercer su derecho al voto. “Este trabajo es vital para animar a las nuevas generaciones a involucrarse en la democracia y fortalecer el Estado de derecho”, señaló Penagos.
El funcionario pidió además el respaldo de autoridades locales y regionales para amplificar el mensaje e invitó a los jóvenes entre 14 y 28 años a votar de manera masiva.
Jóvenes con poder de decisión
Según el registrador, tras las elecciones los consejeros juveniles serán presentados ante los alcaldes municipales, lo que reforzará su incidencia en las decisiones locales. “Les vamos a dar el espacio que la ley les brinda”, afirmó.
Durante una jornada en Cali, Penagos subrayó que los Consejos de Juventud son una experiencia inédita que solo existe en Colombia y que podría replicarse en otras naciones.

El embajador de la Unión Europea en Colombia, Gilles Bertrand, destacó la trascendencia del mecanismo: “Los Consejos de Juventud son un ejemplo democrático único en el mundo. Es fundamental que el 19 de octubre los jóvenes voten masivamente”, afirmó.
El diplomático resaltó que la iniciativa fortalece la incidencia juvenil en regiones con retos sociales y políticos, y que abre espacios de debate público en cada municipio.
