El exministro venezolano y empresario colombiano, Alex Saab, considerado en EE.UU. como testaferro del depuesto presidente de Venezuela Nicolás Maduro, fue acusado este lunes de cargos de lavado de dinero en un tribunal federal de Miami, donde compareció tras ser deportado el sábado.
Saab, de 54 años y quien ya había enfrentado cargos criminales en Estados Unidos, fue acusado hoy por el Distrito Sur de Florida de cargos relacionados con lavado de dinero y conspiración para realizar transacciones financieras, ocultar y disfrazar el origen de fondos.
Vestido con un mono marrón, Saab, considerado un estrecho aliado de Maduro, ya había sido acusado previamente en Estados Unidos de haberse enriquecido ilícitamente mediante contratos gubernamentales y de actuar como presunto testaferro del líder chavista.
El sábado el Gobierno de Venezuela, a cargo de la presidenta encargada Delcy Rodríguez, informó de la deportación de Saab.
El general Juan Carlos Buitrago aseguró en entrevista con La FM que durante investigaciones de contrainteligencia y operaciones de la Policía Fiscal y Aduanera encontró información que vinculaba a Alex Saab con labores de espionaje para el régimen de Nicolás Maduro.

Buitrago señaló que entre Alex Saab y Diego Marín, conocido como “Papá Pitufo”, no existía relación directa distinta a compartir abogados vinculados al bufete de Abelardo de la Espriella.
Saab, enfrenta cargos en EE.UU. relacionados con lavado de dinero y conspiración para realizar transacciones financieras, ocultar y disfrazar el origen de fondos.
