El ministro de Defensa de Venezuela, Vladimir Padrino López, afirmó este miércoles que el país no se dejará amedrentar por los anuncios del presidente estadounidense Donald Trump y aseguró que la Fuerza Armada Nacional Bolivariana (FANB) defenderá sin concesiones la soberanía y el orden constitucional vigente.
En un mensaje transmitido por la televisión estatal, Padrino López sostuvo que el estamento militar está comprometido a resguardar la integridad territorial y el sistema democrático del país, incluso frente a escenarios de máxima presión externa. “La dignidad de esta patria no es negociable ni se deja intimidar por absolutamente nadie”, enfatizó.
El titular de Defensa recalcó que la FANB protegerá los derechos de Venezuela sobre sus espacios marítimos y aéreos, y defenderá de manera firme la independencia, la soberanía y la paz nacional. En ese contexto, desestimó lo que calificó como “amenazas arrogantes” provenientes de Washington, afirmando que no generan temor en el país.
Padrino López también cuestionó duramente el anuncio de Trump sobre un bloqueo naval contra buques petroleros vinculados a Venezuela, al considerar que dicha medida vulnera principios fundamentales del derecho internacional. Según indicó, la decisión contraviene la Carta de las Naciones Unidas, en particular las normas relativas al respeto de la soberanía de los Estados y a la solución pacífica de controversias.
Las declaraciones del ministro se produjeron un día después de que Trump afirmara públicamente que Venezuela se encuentra rodeada por una poderosa fuerza naval y anunciara un “bloqueo total” a los petroleros sancionados que entren o salgan del país. El mandatario estadounidense justificó la medida como parte de una intensificación de las operaciones militares en el Caribe, que —según su versión— buscan combatir el narcotráfico en la región.
