Tang aceptó sobornos en efectivo y bienes por un monto total de más de 268 millones de yuanes (38 millones de dólares, 32 millones de euros) de 2007 a 2024, precisó en un comunicado el tribunal popular de Changchun, en la provincia de Jilin.
Estos sobornos «causaron pérdidas muy graves para los intereses del Estado y del pueblo, y justificaban por lo tanto la pena de muerte», según el comunicado.
Según el texto, el acusado confesó sus «crímenes» y mostró arrepentimiento.

Su caída ocurre tras investigaciones similares por corrupción contra los exministros de Defensa Li Shangfu y Wei Fenghe.
Li fue destituido de sus funciones solo siete meses después de posesionarse, y luego fue excluido del Partido Comunista chino por infracciones, especialmente por sospechas de corrupción, según medios estatales.
